Position Summary:

The purpose of the Operational Excellence (Opx) Engineer is to support the improvement of MAS assembly methods, standards, and quality by leading projects in Technology Implementation, Data Analytics, LEAN, 5S, Ergonomics, and other support functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret work instructions, wiring diagrams and quality control documents
  • Read and interpret assembly and part drawings and understand technical specifications
  • Use production KPIs to identify shortcomings and lead improvement projects
  • Implement LEAN principles; prioritizing visual management of materials, tools, and information
  • Lead Change Management efforts by coaching
  • Create Value Stream Maps for simulating flow of materials, products, and information
  • Conduct Semi-annual assembly process audits
  • Compare Year-over-Year improvements in labor, spend, and time metrics
  • Track material expenses and labor hour cost savings

Position Requirements (knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform satisfactorily in the position):

  • BS in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 2 - 5 years in a manufacturing / assembly environment
  • Experience with implementing LEAN manufacturing principles
  • Strong data analytic skills (PowerBI and Excel)
  • Strong communication skills across departments and different levels of the organization
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP system & with AutoCAD software
  • Experience in low-volume, engineer-to-order business is preferred
  • Knowledge of auditing work standards and 5S is preferred
  • Active Driver's License is required in the event employees need to operate a company vehicle or company equipment.
