Position Summary
This position is a critical role that ensures quality and compliance of incoming parts used in the assembly of high voltage vacuum circuit breakers. This position also involves hands-on inspection using precision measurement tools, documentation of non-conformances, and collaboration across departments to support continuous improvement and quality assurance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete all assigned tasks within the Quality department.
- Inspect incoming parts and materials to verify conformance to engineering drawings and specifications using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Document and report non-conformances in accordance with internal procedures.
- Initiate and track Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) as needed.
- Perform trend analysis on supplier quality performance and collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive improvements.
- Coordinate with the Purchasing team to manage the return of defective materials and ensure timely resolution of quality issues.
- Adhere to ISO 9001 quality management procedures and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Assist in internal audits and support audit readiness efforts.
- Develop and maintain standard work instructions for inspection processes.
- Ensure accurate completion of SAP transactions to maintain reliable inventory records.
- ISO Audit Support: Assist in driving action items to completion across all departments to ensure compliance with the ISO 9001 & 14001 standard. This will include internal audits of all departments.
- Support for Supplier Quality Improvement: Assist in the management and improvement of supplier quality standards. Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality requirements are understood and met and follow up with documented corrective actions when these requirements are not met.
- Auditing Internal Procedures: Conduct regular audits of quality management system processes to ensure compliance with established quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Supporting Internal Quality Improvement Projects: Work closely with the quality manager to support projects aimed at improving product quality and operational efficiency.
- Successfully complete all required training as assigned.
- Safely operate the necessary equipment to carry out assigned tasks.
- Take ownership of personal development.
- Support other departments as needed.
Position Requirements (knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform satisfactorily in the position):
- High School Diploma or GED required, prefer 2-year technical degree, other combinations may be considered.
- 2 or more years of experience with demonstrated proficiency in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality management system tools in accordance with ISO 9001 (& Preferred ISO 14001 knowledge / exposure as well).
- Proficient in the use of measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines, and other precision tools.
- Ability to function in a team environment.
- Intermediate computer skills, SAP and Microsoft office product experience preferred.
- Able to interpret engineering drawings related to manufacturing requirements.
- Basic math skills required, application of statistical control methods preferred.
- Effectively communicate problems and work with support groups to resolve.
